EM – Australian Open: Keep asking about Peng Shuai safety, says Naomi Osaka

Naomi Osaka has stressed the importance of the world’s top players continuing to ask questions about Peng Shuai’s safety.

36-year-old Peng has not been seen in public since she appeared in a message in early November Chinese social media site Weibo accused Zhang Gaoli, China’s former Vice Premier, of sexual assault, and there are serious concerns about whether she will play tennis again.

“If I were her, I would want that people care about me too,” said Osaka, world No. 14 from Japan, after her second-round win at the Australian Open yesterday.

“I imagine myself in her skin, and up it’s a bit scary that way, but you want to lend your voice and you want people to ask questions.”
