When Liberty Media took over from Bernie Ecclestone a few years ago, a trio of managers ran the sport – Chase Carey as CEO, Sean Bratches as head of commercial affairs and the respected Formula 1 engineer Brawn, 67, as head of sport.
Bratches and Carey have since left, and the commercial rights to Formula 1 are now managed by Stefano Domenicali.
Another veteran engineer, 68-year-old Pat Symonds, later joined them to be responsible for technical matters , but now it turns out that both he and Brawn will be leaving.
“Brawn is expected to step down as competition director in late 2022,” reported Julien Billiotte, a respected correspondent for France’s Auto Hebdo, from Abu Dhabi.
“And his former colleague at Benetton (Symonds) is expected to leave a few months early – in the summer,” he added.
