Jon Batiste led the Grammy nominations on Tuesday (November 23) in a field of the best albums that ranged from rap to jazz and newcomers like teen sensation Olivia Rodrigo and veteran Tony Bennett alike

The Grammys, the highest honors in the music industry, will be presented in Los Angeles on January 31st.

The nominations in each of the three best categories – album, song and record of the year – increased from eight to 10 for the first time.

“Adding more nominees is one way of building a broader network for more music, more artists, and more genres,” said Harvey Mason Jr., executive director of the Recording Academy , and announced the change on Tuesday.

Eilish (Happier Than Ever, Rodrigo (driver’s license), Bieber (Peaches) and Batiste (Freedom) were among the 10 nominees for Record of the Year, along with the new comeback Swedish band Abba single, I Still Have Faith In You.

Swift, an eleven-time Grammy winner, won an award for best album for her bestseller Evermore, but was banned from the other races and disappointed fans, who are snubber t felt.

Rodrigo, 18), who debuted in the US charts in January when her single Drivers License went viral, received seven awards including best new artist and best album (Sour). </ p Batiste, who also directs the band on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, has garnered nominations across the board that range from classical compositions and American roots to his music video Freedom and his album We Are, that of the Black Lives Matter – protests of 2020.

“WOW !! Thank you God!! I love EVERYONE! I’m so grateful to my co-workers and ancestors, “Batiste wrote on Twitter.

Rapper Jay-Z became the most Grammy-nominated artist of all time when he raised his total to 83, the record producer Quincy’s previous record Jones surpassed. Paul McCartney added two nods, finishing second at 81. The Recording Academy changed the way nominations and winners are selected earlier this year after claims the process was open to rigging and the Canadian artist The Weeknd got zero Zunicks.

The nominees were chosen this time by all 11,000 voting members of the Recording Academy, rather than by smaller committees whose names have not been released. The winners are also from the musicians, producers and songwriters who belong to the academy were chosen.

The K-Pop band BTS, which, despite almost two years of dominance of the US music charts, has not yet played Grammy winner, scored a single award on Tuesday for the performance of their best-selling single Butter in the pop group field.

West, who had a controversial relationship with the Grammys, received five nods from his hit album Donda, which was dedicated to his late mother.

Bennett, 95, who has Alzheimer’s disease, and Gaga received five nods for their Cole Porter duet album Love for Sale, which is slated to be Bennett’s last.

The Grammys funding period ran from September 2020 until September 2021, so Adele’s new album will have to wait until the next time.
