A man’s body was found in an ute that was submerged in flood in central Queensland.
A passerby noticed the dead man near Gregory Hwy in Hibernia, west of Rockhampton, around 7am on Friday in the morning.
They alerted the police and rescue services who are now trying to get the Ute out of the water.
“The recovery of the vehicle may take some time due to the location and the current weather conditions,” said a police spokesman in A statement.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the man’s death as it is unclear how the man died.
It is believed that detectives are unsure whether the man’s car was swept off the road and he drowned, or whether he died of a previous accident or a medical episode and the ute was later washed away.
For two days, heavy rains have raged in the region, with falls of up to 270 mm in some places and localized Flash floods.
