Stunning. Astonishing. Significant. Josh Sargent has not hit the bull’s eye for Norwich City and could not have picked a more opportune time to score his first Premier League goals.

Teemu Pukki’s cross seemed to have passed the US international before he could put the ball in the net in a wonderful improvisation.

Amazing: The Norwich crowd chants “USA, USA, USA” to an ecstatic Josh Sargent whose 2 goals just dragged them out of the relegation zone. The 21-year-old has struggled this season. To see him persevere and deliver today was humanly rewarding. Nice guy. May he score many more 🇺🇸🙌 pic.twitter.com/q7BUe9KtMh

It cannot be overstated how loud the #ncfc fans were all night. Great assist from 2200.

As much as I loved the first goal, the header is the kind of prem goal we haven’t scored in about 10 years and I loved it #ncfc

Fully deserved win, after Watford into the second half, the last 7 days have shown us we can compete with the teams at the bottom of the league, showed character today and a bit of quality 💪🏼 #Ncfc

Both the goal lines decision-making system and VAR both stalled the celebrations, but the 21-year-old couldn’t steal the moment in front of a full, vociferous and happily-travelling contingent of City supporters.

Few have drawn more criticism than the American forward, whereby Sargent ended the evening serenading enthusiastic City supporters during his post-match media duties.

After the defeat against Brighton and failing to work his way up the goalscoring charts, this would be a significant he relief for Sargent and caps the momentous fortnight of becoming a father for the first time.

His leap to second goal was almost fueled by the confidence coursing through his veins. In the context of his individual and City’s collective season, this could prove to be an important moment.
