The arrival of Claudio Ranieri as Watford’s new coach means that Liverpool’s pre-game analysis has been heavily focused on his time with Serie A team Sampdoria.
The Hornets appointed the Italian during international break to improve their seven-point record from seven Premier League games this season.
Ranieri returned to English football after almost two years at the helm of Sampdoria back.
“He’s obviously a great coach who has worked all over the world,” Jürgen Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com. “The last club was really successful again, has reinvented itself, that’s absolutely great.
” I don’t think he’ll care too much about who he’s playing against in the first game, he’s just so busy preparing the team and they will give everything.
“The preparation was obviously a little different now, we actually saw more situations of Sampdoria games than Watford games to set up the Watford game because Claudio obviously has one certain way he usually does it.
“But the main message for us in this game is that we have to focus on ourselves – not just because we don’t know what the opponent is doing, but because of that . “
