The world is “too late” to act on climate change and the consequences will be catastrophic if large-scale reductions in greenhouse gases are not achieved immediately, the UN Secretary-General has warned.
António Guterres spoke at the launch of a UN report warning that emissions have recovered from the temporary decline last year due to the pandemic.
He said the UN Climate Change Conference Cop26 in Glasgow must be the “turning point” in which all countries set more ambitious targets that will reduce global emissions by 45 percent by 2030 compared to 2010 levels.
