Chief Minister Ashok Gehlotled Rajasthan government has decided to provide one-time help of Rs 5000 to artists reeling under financial problems during the ongoing Covid19 pandemic. The state government has claimed that around 2,000 financially weak and needy artists will get relief due to this one-time financial help.

« It is worth mentioning that in the state budget this year, 15 crore rupees allocation was made to the artist welfare fund, » Gehlot stated. (With inputs from Dev Ankur Wadhawan)

Tamil Nadu eased relaxations in 11 districts, some of which include private security services, housekeeping will be allowed with e-registration, electricians plumbers motor technician will be permitted from 9am to 5pm with e registeration, 2 wheelers cycle four wheelers repair shops will be open between 9am and 2pm.

In the rest of the 27 districts the relaxations include beauty parlour, saloons and spas with 50 percent occupancy and without air conditioner can operate between 6am and 5pm, government parks, playgrounds can open between 6am and 9am, agricultural equipment repair between 9am to 5pm will be allowed.

SOPs include: Hand sanitizers must be kept in shops and offices, thermal screening should be done, face masks must be worn and AC should not be used, social distancing must be followed.

Dr VK Paul, one of the key members of the PM’s Covid management team has said, “It’s not time to have parties yet. Wear masks at all times.”

Till now, the number of black fungus cases in Uttarakhand is 356, including 56 deaths, as per the state Health Department.

The Karnataka government has said restrictions will continue in districts with high Covid positivity rate. These districts are Chikkamagaluru, Shivmogga, Davanagere, Mysuru, Chamarajanagara, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Belgavi and Kodagu. Relaxations will be allowed in the remaining districts from 6 am on June 14 to 6 am on June 21.

In a setback to Bharat Biotech’s COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin, the US Food and Drug Administration has « recommended » Ocugen Inc, the US partner of the Indian vaccine maker, to go for Biologics Licence Application (BLA) route with additional data, nixinghopes of Emergency Use Authorisation. Ocugen in a statement on Thursday announced that as recommended by the FDA, it will pursue submission of a biologics licence application (BLA) for Covaxin.

« The company will no longer pursue an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Covaxin. The FDA provided feedback to Ocugen regarding the Master File. The company had previously submitted and recommended that Ocugen pursue a BLA submission instead of an EUA application for its vaccine candidate and requested additional information and data, » Ocugen said. The development may delay the Covaxin launch in the US, Ocugen said.

Biophore India Pharmaceuticals on Friday said it has applied to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for obtaining emergency-use approval for Aviptadil, used in the treatment of moderate to severe cases of COVID-19. The Hyderabad-based firm said it has developed the product which is backward integrated with its in-house API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient).

Uttar Pradesh records 619 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours while 1,642 people have been discharged in the same period. Uttar Pradesh has been seeing a decline in Covid-19 cases for 42 days in a row.

India is close to agreeing to grant foreign COVID-19 vaccine makers such as Pfizer Inc protection against legal liability so that it can use their shots in an immunisation campaign that is facing acute shortages, three government sources told Reuters.

Over a dozen entities, including large digital companies like Paytm and MakeMyTrip, are looking at approval for offering vaccine bookings, according to CoWIN head RS Sharma, reports PTI. The government had, last month, released new guidelines for the integration of CoWIN with third-party applications, easing the way for such apps to offer vaccine bookings. Nearly 15 entities are eyeing approval to provide online appointment booking for vaccination, including Paytm, Infosys and MakeMyTrip, Sharma said. When contacted, MakeMyTrip Group CEO Rajesh Magow said that with millions already using MakeMyTrip app, “we want to leverage the API integration to help people easily book their vaccination slots and do our bit to make the entire process more convenient”.

The Group of Seven nations (G7) are set to commit to sharing at least 1 billion coronavirus shots with the world, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced, with half coming from the U.S. and 100 million from the UK as President Joe Biden urged allies to join in speeding the pandemic’s end and bolstering the strategic position of the world’s wealthiest democracies. Johnson’s announcement on the eve of the G-7 leaders’ summit in England came hours after Biden committed to donating 500 million COVID-19 vaccine doses and previewed a coordinated effort by the advanced economies to make vaccination widely and speedily available everywhere. « We’re going to help lead the world out of this pandemic working alongside our global partners, » Biden said, adding that on Friday the G-7 nations would join the US in outlining their vaccine donation commitments. The G-7 also includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. The prime minister’s office said the first 5 million UK doses would be shared in the coming weeks, with the remainder coming over the next year. Biden’s own commitment was on top of the 80 million doses he has already pledged to donate by the end of June.
