Ebene Magazine – Chelsea could seal top-four spot with victory over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge en

Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel know what it will take to ensure Champions League qualification for the 2021/22 season, the Blues have three Premier League games remaining

Chelsea are in control over their own destiny in regards to a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

With Manchester City crowned as champions and Fulham’s relegation back to the Championship confirmed, all that is left to be decided in the top-flight of English football is European qualification.

Chelsea took a huge step towards sealing a top-four spot with victory at the Etihad Stadium last Saturday as they’ve now amassed 64 points after 35 games.

Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel has refused to get carried away, but with a maximum of three games left of the campaign for some, it is becoming clearer as to which four teams will qualify for the Champions League next season.

Although, anything can happen in the Premier League and there’s still work for the Blues to do in order to ensure they are at European football’s top table in 2021/22.

Following Leicester City’s 2-1 win over Manchester United coupled with results going in Chelsea’s favour last weekend, it is looking like one from four for the final Champions League spot.

Well, the Blues have three games left in their season, which means they can achieve a maximum of 73 points by the end of the campaign if they beat, Arsenal, Leicester City, and Aston Villa.

With that said, one more win could be enough. That is because West Ham have three games remaining but can only achieve a maximum points total of 67.

And as a result of Chelsea’s superior goal difference, 67 points could be enough to seal yet another top-four finish, but that depends on how Liverpool finish the season.

Last season’s champions have a game in hand so their maximum points total is 69 which means Chelsea need six more points to ensure they can’t be caught by Jurgen Klopp’s side – as long as they maintain a 100% record.

In fact, the Blues may have eyes on catching Man United in second as just six points separates them in the table and the Red Devils host Liverpool on Thursday night.

Alternatively, the clash with Leicester at Stamford Bridge next week could be a shootout for third place.
