The two Texan brothers, who are accused of slaughtering four family members before killing themselves, said they got guns easily because gun control was « a joke » – and were in part heard by TV « The Office » off the rails.
In a sprawling 12-page note originally linked to his Instagram page, 19-year-old Farhan Towhid said that he and his 21-year-old brother Tanvir Towhid were in manic depression and all day TV sessions were united.
« The first and most important show we saw was » The Office « », Farhan wrote in the note that began: « Hello everyone, I killed myself and my family. »
The Steve Carrell comedy was one of the « four very important problems I have encountered in my entire life, » Farhan claimed in the online note that police confirmed to CBS DFW that they were dealing with the cruel Bloodbath related ngt.
Then he cursed at length about how the show « should have ended when [Carell’s character] Michael left » because « it started at some point » – and complained about plot and character developments that made him angry .
« People say the finals make up for it, which is an outright lie. Sure it was cute, but it doesn’t justify the last couple of seasons we had to deal with, « he wrote, saying he has » a lot more that I want to say, but hey, life is short. «
» We continued to look through February 21, 2021. That day my older brother came into my room with the suggestion: If we can’t fix everything in a year, we’ll kill ourselves and our family, « he wrote about the show.
They soon changed that to just a month, and Farhan said, « We finally realized that we were just biding our time. Waiting a year was way too long. Why not wait a month? » he said.
« The plan was simple. We’re getting two guns. I take one and shoot my sister and grandma while my brother kills our parents with the other. Then we’ll take ourselves out, « he wrote.
The police believe that the Bangladeshi brothers did just that on Saturday at the family home in Allen, Texas.
They are supposed to meet their father, Towhidul Islam (54 ), Mother Iren Islam (56) and the 77-year-old grandmother Altafun Nessa, who was visiting from Bangladesh, shot dead, police told CBS DFW.
They also killed Farhan’s 19-year-old twin sister, sharp color who reportedly had a full scholarship to NYU before turning their guns on themselves.
All six victims were discovered by police officers with gunshot wounds during a wellness check-up at around 1am on Monday, the report said. It wasn’t immediately clear which guns were being used.
The brothers assumed that getting guns would be the hardest part of their planned suicide.
“All my brother had to do was stop at the gun shop going to say something about wanting a gun at home for the defense, signing some forms and that was it.
« He literally just said no. They didn’t ask for evidence or whether he was taking any medication (it was him), ”he wrote.
The bloodbath was the result of both brothers battling depression, he wrote, saying that his father“ screwed his ass in vain scraped to help. « .
» I’ve had depression since 9th grade (2016). Not the « Damn I failed my test » depression that everyone says has, more like a « I only cut myself twice today, that’s better than usual, » wrote Farhan, saying his brother’s condition was « much worse ».
« The guy’s a fancy genius, but too depressed and socially minded careful to do anything with it, « he wrote.
Farhan explained how his depression eventually forced him to leave UT Austin, where he was a computer science student.
» I just cried, laughed and with myself talked to myself while banging against a wall for hours, « he said, insisting that e s « wasn’t as bad » as it was at other times when it « broke ».
« I love my family. I really do. And that’s exactly why I decided to kill them, « he wrote.
» If I killed myself, they would be miserable. They would spend the rest of their lives feeling guilty, desperate, and a host of other adjectives that mean sad.
« Instead of grappling with the aftermath of my suicide, I could just do them a favor and take them away. » . Neither of us would ever have to be sad again, « he wrote.
However, he also admitted, » If I die, I might as well get some attention. «
All police told CBS that they had no prior interaction with the family that would suggest that such a tragedy might be imminent.
« When I heard the news, I couldn’t breathe for 20 to 30 minutes. How could it be in a community how we happen? We’re so close and we visit and talk to each other, we have dinner and all, « said Ahsan.
» But in the house … his children were unhappy for some reason and one thing led to others. «
