The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are playing a role in the 2021 IPL after winning all three games they have played so far. This is the best start to the tournament ever and captain Virat Kohli would like to continue the winning streak when his side meet Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday.

Unlike RCB, RR have many problems to solve, starting with their middle order, which seems to be below average in this edition. Openers Jos Buttler and Manan Vohra have shown some form with the racket, but even they need to improve their game before the tough game against the leaders. Captain Sanju Samson was also inconsistent. After scoring a hundred goals in the first game, he had two low scores. David Miller and Chris Morris did well against Delhi Capitals (DC) but much more is expected from the rest of the Indian batsmen – Shivam Dube, Riyan Parag and Rahul Tewatia.

Injuries to two of their foreign players – Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes – haven’t done too much good to RR either. Now another international, Liam Livingstone, left the squad due to bladder fatigue. RR would definitely replace him, but whoever joins cannot play the match immediately because he has to serve the quarantine period.

In contrast, RCB has both national and international players who are fully fit and above all in shape. This is the main reason they are currently at the top of the table. Glenn Maxwell and de Villiers have done well so far, and even local Indian talent has increased this season.

It will be quite a task for the Samson-led team to hit RCB tomorrow, but the nature of the tournament tells us anything is possible.
