A recovery operation is underway in northwest WA after a light aircraft crashed into a canyon in Cape Range National Park Wednesday afternoon, killing two people.
Police found the wreckage of the microlight around 7:30 p.m., after it was reported missing around 4:30 p.m. after failing to return to an Exmouth airfield.
A WA police spokesman said two occupants of the plane were found dead at the scene.
Exmouth is a popular destination for microlight aircraft and multi-operator tourist flights in the region.
The civil aviation safety agency announced an investigation into the crash by the licensed agency responsible for sports aviation administration.
