For orders over 229 SEK, delivery from Amazon Fulfillment Center will be free
Amazon opened its Swedish website on Wednesday, offering customers more than 150 million products in 30 categories, marking its first entry in the Nordic countries
Swedish customers could already shop on Amazon through its websites in other European countries, like Germany, and have their purchases shipped, but that often meant paying hefty shipping costs.
The new website, amazonse, will also feature tens of thousands of products from Swedish companies, said Alex Ootes, vice president of EU expansion at Amazon
Orders over 229 SEK (approx Rs 1,900) and shipping from Amazon’s fulfillment center would be delivered for free, the company said
Most deliveries will be made by Postnord postal company and buyers will also have the option of priority shipping, with packages being delivered within two days
The arrival of Amazon in Sweden has been talked about for years and could be a challenge for retailers
The shares of low-budget DIY and housewares retailer Clas Ohlson, fashion specialist Boozt AB and e-book seller Storytel had dipped slightly in early August when Amazon first announced times his intention to launch in Sweden
This month, Amazon launched a 91 megawatt power project in Sweden to support Amazon Web Services data centers and grow its retail business, and is expected to deliver 280,000 megawatt hours of clean energy per year for the Swedish network
