A Queensland man has been charged with 14 domestic violence charges, including deprivation of liberty and strangulation in connection with « several incidents » in recent weeks.
Queensland police said the 25-year-old Gympie man allegedly drove a woman to Toolara Forest, tied her hands behind her back and tied her feet with rope before driving away.
He returned a short time later and cut the victim free, but let her walk « a fair distance » on a dirt road, before being allowed to get back into the vehicle as another car approached.
It will further be alleged that on another occasion at a Gympie home, the woman was allegedly punched in the face before being « grabbed around the neck and clamped in a headlock, » police said in a statement.
‘… Caused difficulty in breathing as the man continued to beat her.
“On another occasion, (the) man reportedly drove the woman back to the Toolara Forest, where he placed her in a master lock while she was in the car and choked her.
« The woman was then forced to get out of the car and sit on the dirt before being allowed back in the car, where she was further beaten and assaulted. »
Queensland Police will claim there were further incidents where the man violated domestic violence orders by contacting the female victim, visiting her home, verbally assaulting her in public and using physical assault.
Detectives charged the man Thursday with 14 domestic violence-related felonies, including six counts of violation of a domestic violence warrant, three counts of assault with physical harm, two counts of strangulation/suffocation and one count of deprivation of liberty, theft of police violence and hinder the police.
He was refused bail and placed in custody and was due to appear in Gympie Magistrates Court on Friday.
