Bobby and Peter Farrelly plan to re-pitch the pins for a sequel to their 1996 comedy Kingpin. According to Collider, the brothers behind There’s Something About Mary and Dumb and Dumber will produce the sequel, which is still in its early stages of development.
The original kingpin played Woody Harrelson, Randy Quaid, Vanessa Angel and Bill Murray and told the story an alcoholic ex-professional bowler (Harrelson) who becomes the manager of a promising Amish talent (Quaid). Released after the phenomenal success of Dumb and Dumber, the film was only a minor hit, grossing $ 25 million at the domestic box office. It has since achieved cult status, which is probably why Village Roadshow Pictures decided to dust off the bowling ball for this belated sequel.
At this point, there isn’t even a script yet, and it is unknown how strong Bobby and Peter Farrelly are will be involved. The latter carved out a dramatic niche for itself with the Oscar-winning Green Book and the in-production adaptation of The Longest Beer Always Run.
