Boomer’s tall man Aron Baynes has agreed to a two-year price tag of $ 19. 5 million deal with the Toronto Raptors as the NBA Free Agency madness continues.

Baynes joins the Raptors after a season with the Phoenix Suns that averaged 11. 5 points and 5. 6 rebounds in 42 games.

The proud Mareeba product from the far north of Queensland will give Toronto a valuable presence in color after the franchise gave the big names Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol to the Clippers respectively. Lakers has lost.

Baynes looks forward to an uninterrupted season after a frustrating year testing positive for the coronavirus in July.

He was eventually evacuated but endured a month-long struggle during which he was forced to isolate himself from his wife and two children in his family home in Phoenix.

« The first few nights were the scariest for me because it was when I put my family in danger, too, » Baynes told The Athletic.

“When this first test was positive, I was isolated from everyone. I was in the house, but I was isolated in a separate room.

Before the NBA shutdown in early March, Baynes had the best career numbers in Phoenix with an average of 11. 5 points, 5. 6 rebounds and 1. 6 templates.

Meanwhile, former Sydney King and NBL First Team striker Jae’Sean Tate is poised to sign a three-year deal for ex-Kings coach Will Weaver with the Rockets.

Brad Newley, the Kings swing man, isn’t surprised Tate made the NBA after seeing the hours he devoted to training during his season in Sydney.

« All that work ethic started here at the Kings, » said Newley, who is 54 from Houston. Election was selected in the 2007 NBA draft.

« He saw the direction we were going, with the strength and conditioning and the steps we took to maintain it as part of our program.

« He was probably a little under-challenged and when he left here he was almost NBA-capable.

« Jae’Sean came to do Pilates sessions with us too, and he took his lifting very seriously.

« We all really pushed him to take his threesomes and retire himself, and I think that’s probably why he took the next step to the NBA, » he says

« He’s a damn good defender too, so I think he’s going to be one of the guys who come in and do whatever the coach needs, » he said.

“I can see that if he misses, he causes big problems because he is very quick and can make these extra passes.

« Even if he changes to a security guard, he can go in and set them up. ”
