. .

Today, Google Doodle is celebrating early December with the help of a little yellow bird wrapping fairy lights around its logo.

Christmas is just around the corner as families prepare to celebrate very differently than usual.

Hanukkah is also celebrated in December, as are Kwanzaa, Yule, and fans of the sitcom SeinfeldFestivus, the less useful imitation.

Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish festival traditionally celebrated on March 25th. Day of the month Kislev in the Hebrew calendar begins. This year falls on Thursday the 10th. December.

Hanukkah commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem during the Maccabees’ revolt against the Seleucid Empire.

You will be noticed by lighting a menorah – a candlestick with nine branches. One branch, usually above or below the other branches, holds the candle that was used to light the other eight, and one of them is lit each night.

Some Jews like to celebrate Hanukkah in much the same way that Christians celebrate Christmas, feast, and give gifts. Oil-based foods like latex are common.

The Germanic people celebrate Christmas, also known as the Christmas season. It has pagan roots, especially with the Norse god Odin and the Anglo-Saxon festival in modern times.

These days, like Christmas, people gather to eat and give gifts. In fact, it spawned a number of Christmas traditions, such as the Christmas Protocol.

The parody holiday is resistant to Christmas consumption and is celebrated by standing around an unadorned aluminum pillar instead of a decorated tree.

Traditions include « broadcast grievances » and « outbursts of power » while people also refer to « wonders of the festival » which are indeed easy-to-explain events.

This date was chosen because it corresponds to the winter solstice in the Roman calendar. In fact, the date of birth of Jesus is unknown.

One concerns alms funds that the churches gave to the poor after Christmas, in a tradition that goes back to the Middle Ages.

The Oxford English Dictionary refers to « the first day of the week after Christmas Day celebrated as a public holiday when postmen, errand boys and servants of all kinds await a Christmas box » year of service.

Kwanzaa is a seven day celebration of African American culture. Ends on 1. January with gifts and meal sharing.

The festival founded by Maulana Karinga is a festival of African studies and an active member of the Black Power movement. It was first celebrated in 1966.

He began after the Watts riots “to give blacks an alternative to the current holiday and give blacks the opportunity to celebrate themselves and their history instead of just imitating the practices of the dominant society. ”

New Year’s Eve celebrations will be much quieter this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, many will no doubt look forward to the end of 2020 and see them in 2021, especially when the possibility of a vaccine is in sight.
