A man has been charged with murder after a 51-year-old woman was found dead in what police described as a ‘confrontational’ scene.
A 37-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a woman found dead in a house near Nowra, on the south coast of NSW.
Police were called to the home on Comerong Island Road, Numbaa, around 11:20 a.m. Friday after the 51-year-old was found by a relative who had gone looking for her after being unable to contact.
Police and ambulance rushed to the property and the woman was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Detective Inspector Scott Nelson told NCA NewsWire that first responders had walked into a « confrontational » scene.
« There was evidence that she had suffered fatal injuries, » he said.
About half an hour later, a 37-year-old man was arrested near the crime scene.
The man was taken to the police station in Nowra and was later charged.
« We think he was known to the woman, » said Mr Nelson.
The man was refused bail on Saturday to appear in court in Wollongong.
