According to The Athletic, the former Red will train with the Eagles in the hope of securing a contract after leaving Anfield as a free agent.

The Reds have been linked with the Spain international for much of the past three months but finally opened discussions this week over a £27million deal.

Thiago is inside the last year of his contract with the Bundesliga champions and Bayern have been keen to offload him after being told the 29-year-old would not be signing a new deal at the Allianz.

Bayern had been expecting a move from the Reds since they won the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on August 23.

Liverpool, however, refused to move before negotiations finally got underway at the start of the week.

Thiago Alcantara continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool, as he has done done for the past few months.

A fresh report in The Athletic claims that the Spaniard would become one of Reds’ highest paid player, should he move to Anfield.

Despite being consistently linked with Champions League-winning midfielder Thiago this summer, the ECHO understands he is not a current active target.

Liverpool got the new Premier League season underway with a hard-fought home win over Leeds United but transfers are still on many fans’ minds.

With the window still open until October 6th, rumours still abound over the futures of Thiago Alcantara, Gini Wijnaldum, Rhian Brewster and a host of other players.

The return of European football is also not too far away with Liverpool learning a little over who their potential Champions League group opponents could be while fans also learnt on Wednesday the Reds have been overtaken by Arsenal as the most popular kit in England this season despite the new Nike deal.

So what happens next? Will Liverpool spend more money? Will Gini Wijnaldum stay? Are the Reds targeting any new signings and what about a replacement for the departed Dejan Lovren?

Liverpool are reportedly willing to let Divock Origi leave the club on loan this summer, it has been claimed.

The report goes on to state that Liverpool would be willing to sanction a deal, but would insert an obligation to buy clause of €15m which would come into force next summer.

Liverpool were five days removed from having lifted their first title in 30 years when the agenda shifted.

The transfer window had been open for a matter of hours and the questions turned to just how Klopp and his club would approach it.

With over two months of negotiating time ahead of sporting director Michael Edwards, the Reds boss made it known that waiting game was underway.

With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to bite and the uncertainty around club finances lingering, Liverpool would be in no rush to dive head first into the market.

Rhian Brewster continues to be linked with a move to Sheffield United and here’s Chris Wilder with the latest on the Blades’ search for a striker…
