New Delhi: Former pacer Ajit Agarkar has said that Team India will face tough challenges in the final of the prestigious World Test Championship against New Zealand. He said New Zealand’s pace bowling was strong and the weather conditions in England were similar to their own. Agarkar also said that Kohlisena’s lack of experience playing any Test cricket in recent times and going straight into the ring without any match practice would become a problem. He said all this would throw challenges to the Indian team. Kohlisena, however, said that the young players were dusting off despite the failure of the key players and that this was evident in the series against Australia and England.
The title fight is set to take place in Southampton from June 18 to 23. TeamIndia has already started practice in England. Participating in the Star Sports Game Plan show, Agarkar shared some interesting facts in the context of this prestigious final. ‘New Zealand is very special in pace bowling. A tall player like Kyle Jamieson tests with his bowling. Then Trent Boult, Tim Southee swings one ball and swings another. Neil Wagner, on the other hand, makes an impact when the pitch is flat and the wickets are not needed.
He has been doing the same thing for a while. Also, the match will be played in England, which will be in favor of the Kiwis. Because the conditions here are similar to those in Achcham New Zealand. The longer they play dukeball the easier their task will be. So there are tough challenges ahead for TeamIndia. Team India, on the other hand, has not played Test cricket recently. He did not play anywhere other than at home after the tour of Australia. That left the Indian team without proper preparation, ”said Agarkar.
Agarkar said that Team India bounced back strongly after losing the first few matches of the Test series against Australia and England. Kohlisena also said that youngsters excel in difficult situations despite the failure of key players. ‘Speaking of the series against England at home .. we wanted India to win easily. But won the first match. It then went on to win consecutive matches and win the series. India also lost the first match of the tour of Australia. Alloutai wrapped up the worst record with 36 runs. After that Captain Kohli also dusted off in his absence. Shardul Thakur, Natarajan and Siraj excelled in that series. This is the strength of India, « said Agarkar.
